Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe confirmed yesterday that plans for a new National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) have been finalised and the new body will open its doors by the end of the year.
UK Sport hosted its annual Anti-Doping Conference at Lord's Cricket Ground this week, with the theme of the 2009 event being A Time of Change, Challenge and Opportunities. More information on yesterday's event can be found on the UK Sport Podcast, which is now available to download.
Of the 900 athletes who were assessed during Phase One of the Girls4Gold Olympic talent recruitment drive, 26 were short-listed to attend a Phase Two assessment with GB Flatwater Canoeing in December 2008.
The first of four 'Train Like Champions Challenge' events planned over the coming month, hosted by UK Sport, took place at the world class facilities at the University of Bath's Sports Training Village at the weekend.
Nominations have this week been announced for The Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards 2008, which is co-sponsored by UK Sport, and will take place at Lord's Cricket Ground on Thursday February 12.
