BRITISH AIRWAYS TO HELP BRITAIN'S TOP ATHLETES 'TAKE OFF'

UK Sport this week announced a new partnership with British Airways, the official airline of the London 2012 Games, to benefit all athletes on the World Class Performance Programme in their quest for medal success.

Investment from UK Sport will see World and European level competition reach all corners of the UK in 2009, with up to 21 events to be held across the four home nations.

Nicole Cooke, the Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist, was announced as the Sportswoman of the Year for 2008 last week at the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards - an event supported by UK Sport.
