A MEMORABLE YEAR - BUT ALL EYES MUST NOW TURN TO LONDON

2008 was a truly memorable year for British Olympic and Paralympic sport, with incredible success in Beijing and significant movement forward in building a world class performance system for the UK. But with the focus already on London, the tough decisions taken in the past few weeks only serve to highlight the work that still needs to be done, according to John Steele, UK Sport's Chief Executive.

Baroness Sue Campbell CBE, the Chair of UK Sport and the Youth Sport Trust, was presented with the Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Sport and Coaching Award at the UK Coaching Awards on Wednesday evening.

DRUG-FREE SPORT CONTINUES INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
As the 1 January 2009 fast approaches, UK Sport has not only been busy preparing British athletes for the revised Code and new International Standards, but has also assisted the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and developing National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) with overseas initiatives to help those regions to better prepare themselves for the fight against doping in sport.
