Athlete funding for eight Olympic and four Paralympic sports was confirmed today by UK Sport, the nation's high performance sport agency. At the same time it announced details of additional funding that has been secured to underpin this investment.
UK Sport's Research and Innovation team have today announced the first winner of their Ideas 4 Innovation: Garage Innovators Award. The successful applicant is Alasdair Wylie, a Senior Consultant with Frazer-Nash Consultancy, who had an idea for a novel device for performance enhancement in canoeing.
Current England Hockey representative and former participant on UK Sport's International Leadership Programme (ILP), Sue Catton, has been appointed as the London 2012 Organising Committee's Competition Manager for Hockey and Wheelchair Rugby.
English Institute of Sport Chairman Steve Cram and National Director Conor O'Shea both paid tribute to the organisations staff as they addressed delegates at the EIS National Conference in Sheffield this week.
