Great Britain's Olympic and Paralympic heroes, led out by the all-conquering British Cycling team, have paraded through London today in celebration of their success at the Beijing 2008 Games.
Phase one testing for the Girls4Gold Talent Identification Programme came to an end at the weekend as over 300 Olympic hopefuls rose to the challenge in Loughborough in the hope that they may discover they have the potential for 2012 medal success in the sports of cycling, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, modern pentathlon or bob skeleton.
The first cohort of former professional footballers have taken the next steps along their potential route from Pitch2Podium. The programme, backed by the football authorities and run by the English Institute of Sport and UK Sport, aims to re-assign released young footballers into alternative Olympic sports.
Nathan Robertson will head into next February's European Team Championships in Liverpool - an event being supported through UK Sport's World Class Events Programme - with a new Mixed Doubles partner.
