RECORD NUMBERS TO COMPETE AT 2008 PARALYMPIC WORLD CUP

Record numbers of competitors will compete at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester next month – an event supported by UK Sport's National Lottery funded World Class Events Programme - as the countdown to the Beijing Paralympics continues to gather momentum.

STRONG PERFORMANCES AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ENSURE SWIMMERS SELECTION FOR TEAM GB
Following impressive performances at the British Swimming Championships, the British Olympic Association have announced further members of Team GB for Beijing. The announcement preceded the beginning of the World Short Course Championships in Manchester this week, which is supported by UK Sport's World Class Events programme.

EVENT ORGANISERS OBSERVE WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Around 30 Event Organisers from across the UK have met in Manchester to observe the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) as part of UK Sport's Event Managers Education and Development Programme.

British sailors Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson took gold at the Yngling European Championships in Blanes, Spain, as gymnast Beth Tweddle won silver at the Women's European Championships.
