YOUNG SCOTTISH FOOTBALLERS OFFERED NEW OLYMPIC GOAL

UK Sport and the Scottish and English Institutes of Sport (SIS/EIS), together with the PFA Scotland, are today offering apprentice football players who may be released from Scottish clubs the chance to take up a new challenge and switch their talents to Olympic sports via their Pitch2Podium initiative.

ILP NAMES THIRD YEAR INTAKE

Following a rigorous selection process, fourteen candidates have been selected to take part in the third year of UK Sport's International Leadership Programme (ILP) in 2009.

UK SPORT AND EIS DRIVING INJURY AND ILLNESS PREVENTION TO GIVE ATHLETES THE EDGE
According to a study carried out for the first time by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), 10% (average figure) of all athletes participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games had to be treated for injury, and in certain sports the risk rose to 15% of all athletes.

FAST-TRACK PRACTITIONER INTERN GAINING WORLDWIDE EXPERIENCE 
As the British squad prepare for the World Table Tennis Championships in Japan which begin next week, English Institute of Sport (EIS) Performance Analyst and Fast-Track Practitoner Programme (FPP) intern, Chris Loxton, will be amongst the travelling party as they look to pick up valuable experience in their preparations leading up to London 2012.
